Early exposure to Byrd, Babbitt, and Jefferson Airplane instilled in violinist Theo Espy a sonic omnivorousness that he channels into his work as a chamber musician and proponent of the music of our time.
During his six-year tenure as violinist of Spektral Quartet, Theo was implicated in numerous commissions and world premieres, performed in four planetarium dome theaters, earned three GRAMMY nominations, survived two renditions of Feldman’s six-hour String Quartet, and weathered one duet with a rubber chicken.
Theo is one half of a NYC-based electronica duo and currently serves as Board President of Identity Affirmation Workshop, a nonprofit organization providing pro bono legal services to trans clients pursuing name and gender-marker changes.
